Call for Short-Term Visiting Artist/Scholar/Curator Diversity FellowshipsThe Department of Art & Art History at Auburn University is pleased to offer short-term visiting artist/scholar/curator opportunities for spring 2022, fall 2023, and spring 2023. One fellow each semester of the regular academic year (fall and spring) will spend 2-3 weeks on the Auburn University campus working on a creative and/or scholarly project. During the visit, artists/curators will undertake an exhibition installation at Biggin Gallery, while scholars will complete research at Auburn University collections, such as the AU Library’s Special Collections and/or the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, or in other area resources. The Visiting Artist/Scholar/Curator will also visit classes in the Department of Art & Art History and give a public lecture while in residence.
Funding: $3000; fellows can apply for discounted area lodging near campus and may have access to short-term studio and/or office space and equipment, depending on their needs
Proposal should include:
• discussion of the research or creative project envisioned for the 2-3 week fellowship period and how the project fits into the candidate’s larger research trajectory
• elaboration on how this project contributes to the diversity of voices and perspectives in your discipline
• CV
• if relevant, Examples of professional work: Provide 10 samples in a single PDF file no larger than 10 MB with captions throughout (preferred) or an identification list including:
o - Images: title, date, media, and dimensions
o - Audio: title, date, media, duration, and URL to access.
o - Video: still image, title, date, media, duration, and URL to access.
• preferred semester of visit, with available date range for a 2-3 week visit; please plan with AU’s academic calendar in mind.
• studio and/or office space and equipment needs for the fellowship period
