ArtHist.net is an international, non-commercial communication and information network for art history and a member of Clio-online. ArtHis.net publishes discipline-specific, professional news from all fields of art history.
ArtHist.net is a community network dedicated to the principle of Open Access. As a member of Clio-online, ArtHist.net administers a moderated mailing list. All contributions are filtered by an editorial board to ensure their compliance with quality standards. Commercial and non-scholarly contributions will not be published.
Members of the network are for the most part professional art historians, graduate students, and independent scholars. Yet its services are also accessible to the general public for free and without restrictions via our website.
All contributions are permanently stored in our archive and can be found through the Search Archive entry mask on the ArtHist.net website.
All posts are also available via RSS-Feed (scroll down for more information) and can be followed on Twitter.
In accordance with the editorial lines of major scholarly journals in the field of art history, contributions will be accepted in English, French, Italian and German.
All reviews of books, exhibitions, and conferences can be found on our website and are downloadable in PDF-format. You can search in the fields of author, title, publication date, or full text.
Our reviews are fed into and linked in the collective library catalog Kunstbibliotheken-Fachverbund Florenz-München-Rom-Paris (Kubikat). They can hence also be researched via the collaborative catalog artlibraries.net.
Founded in 2000 as a member of the H-Net (Humanities and Social Sciences Online) by Matthias Bruhn, Rainer Donandt, Joachim Homann, Iris Mahnke, and Claudia Sedlarz, ArtHist.net began its services in January 2001, then under the name of H-ArtHist.
In June 2017, H-ArtHist joined Clio-online – Gateway for Historical Scholarship e.V. In the course of this relocation, the network changed its name: in September 2017, H-ArtHist became ArtHist.net. Clio-online is the current partner of ArtHist.net.
