c. 1370-1516
Greetings, Art Historians and enthusiasts. I am a graduate student in the
History Department at the University of Minnesota, where I am writing a
dissertation on royal entrance ceremonies--where monarchs were formally
received by a city--in late medieval Spain (c. 1370-1516).
I would very much like to incorporate iconographic sources, and I have found
paintings and sculptures representing various aspects of the celebrations
(including the entries themselves, jousting, feasting, and the like) held at
various museums and private collections in Italy, France, England, and the
Netherlands.
I have yet to find such depictions for Spain. Would anyone happen to know of
any pre-1517 representations of Spanish royal ceremonies, or what catalogues
or scholars might be able to help?
Most grateful,
Luis X. Morera
