One year fixed term position,
Flexible working hours: - 35 hours per week or 28 hours per week.

This post forms part of an AHRC-funded project for the creation of an
online database of British printed images from the 16th and 17th
centuries. The successful applicant will assist in preparing and editing
material for inclusion in the database, refining the design of the
interface by which it will be accessed, and carrying out ancillary
administrative duties.

Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent. A good
knowledge of early modern British history and some knowledge of its
European background are essential; experience in related work is desirable.

Salary range: £27,091 rising to £30,977 per annum, pro rata dependent
inclusive of London Allowance, the initial salary award will be dependent
on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Job Description: The Department of Art at the University of Toronto, St.
George Campus, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor,
tenure stream, in the field of Greek Art. Start date for this position is
July 1, 2008.

Applicants must have a PhD and must demonstrate a strong record of
excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will be
expected to play an important role in undergraduate and graduate level
academic programs, both within the Department of Art and in cooperation
with cognate fields.

The Department of Art has a specialist in Roman art and is currently
searching for an endowed chair in the area of Aegean Prehistory.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Research Fellowships
Gonville and Caius College

Gonville and Caius College gives notice of its intention to elect in 2008
to a number of Research Fellowships open to both men and women to be held
in any subject. Candidates should be graduates of, or research students
in, a University in the British Isles and should not have been engaged in
full-time post-graduate research for longer than four years, or the
equivalent in part-time research, by 1 October 2007.

The Fellowships will be tenable for four years from 1 October 2008.
Research Fellows are not permitted to undertake paid work or to hold any
other appointment, award or emolument, without the consent of the College
Council; but permission is usually given for a limited amount of College
teaching and for occasional lecturing and examining. Research Fellows are
expected to spend the tenure of their Fellowship in Cambridge, and to
contribute to the life of the College. Permission may be granted for
periods of research away from Cambridge. The College should be consulted
in cases where a candidate proposes to defer taking up an award until
after 1 October 2008.

The stipend of a Research Fellow who has no other emoluments except from
College teaching and who is resident in College is at present £17,654
p.a., rising by three annual increments to £19,823, p.a. Assistance with
housing is given to non-resident Research Fellows. A further allowance of
£1,195 is payable in respect of the first child. The stipend is subject
to review.

A Research Fellow will receive the normal privileges of a Fellow,
including the provision of rooms and some meals. Reimbursement of certain
research expenses will also be available.

You will play a full part in the Department's excellent undergraduate and
Masters level teaching programme. Undergraduate teaching will include
introductory modules and more subject focused survey courses and special
subjects including modules on 19th century European Art. Masters level
teaching will include Theoretical Approaches to Art History. You will also
be required to undertake administrative duties within the Department.

You will also be required to demonstrate that you are committed to
research, as demonstrated by a PhD, existing publications and
well-formulated proposals for continued research.

Starting salary £33,779 to £40,335 a year (potential progression on
performance once in post to £45,397 a year).

Lord Kelvin - Adam Smith Postgraduate Scholarship
Technical Art History

Following on from the successes of the Lord Kelvin - Adam Smith Fellowship
scheme, which has facilitated the recruitment of nine outstanding early
career researchers, Glasgow University is continuing its commitment to the
development of new research areas by investing in a scholarship scheme for
postgraduate research students.

The Department of History of Art in collaboration with the Scottish
Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC) is seeking to award one
of these Scholarships from October 2007. The Scholar will work with Dr
Erma Hermens, Lord Kelvin - Adam Smith Fellow in Technical Art History,
Professor Tony Fallick and Dr Rob Ellam of SUERC, on the project
Seventeenth-Century Antwerp Studio Practice, an Inter-disciplinary Approach.

Each Scholarship will provide a stipend at the Research Council
recommended rates (£12,600 for 2007/08) and will cover the cost of home
tuition fees for a three- year period. Applicants should have a first
degree in art history and either a masters in art history, museum studies,
conservation, or related discipline.
