on THE CILICIAN ARCHAEOLOGY

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce the preparations for the Fourth Symposium on
Cilician Archaeology which will be hosted by Research Center for Cilician
Archaeology (KAAM) of Mersin University. The proposed date for the
symposium will be the first week of June 2007.

The symposium, covers the topics on prehistory, near eastern archaeology,
classical archaeology, ancient history, epigraphy, numismatic, Byzantine
Art History and studies on Anatolian local \"clientel dynasties\" which
display similar patterns with that of mountanious Cilicia of the said
period;
. To achieve higher academic standarts, the papers limited to presenting
archaeological material or descriptions of excavations will not be
accepted. Papers presented should reflect the field of specialization of
the presenter and should discuss original material.
. The language of the symposium will be Turkish, English and German;
. Papers presented will be published as proceedings in the offical journal
of the Center (OLBA) after the approval of the selected committee of
referees;
. Registration fee is 150 Euro which will cover accomodation during the
symposium, lunch and transportation to and from the campus. Registration
fee willl be 30 Euro for those who do not demand the service listed
above.Travel expenses to and from Turkey will be the participants
responsibility.

We are planning a one day excursion following the three-day symposium which
will provide an opportunity for the participants to visit the ancient sites
in the region.

We will welcome any suggestions for the conduct of the symposium from you.
