“Frontiers and Borders in World History” and “Indigenous Peoples in World History”

In accordance with the President of the World History Association (WHA), I am posting this CFP in hopes to attract historians of art and visual cultural into world history scholarship. The highly esteemed WHA (http://www.thewha.org/) will be meeting in Albuquerque, NM, from June 27-30, 2012, and this year’s topics are “Frontiers and Borders in World History”, and “Indigenous Peoples in World History”, two subjects that offer venues into interesting and understudied areas also for specialists of art and anthropology.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- The transfer of knowledge and artistic practices across borders
- The reception of foreign styles and ‘foreigness’
- The cultural development around frontiers and responsive artistic production
- The artistic heritage and tradition of indigenous people
- The cultural and artistic impact of/upon indigenous people
Kindly submit paper proposals of 200-250 words for a 20-minute presentation of original research on one of the above named topics to Florian Knothe (knothefcmog.org) by February 29th, 2012, and feel free to contact me for further information.
