The main problem with cd-rom, as I see it, is the relative awkwardness of
presenting text and images on a small screen. While some methods of computer
presentation, with the help of projector, are a good teaching aid, most art
history CD-ROMs commercially available sacrifice both image quality and text
content in order to fit both in the same screen. Moreover, the simplicity of
use that slides and transparencies offer do not encourage the manipulation
of a clumsy computer equipment in class.
