XIX Autumn Colloquium 2017
In the beginning was the word: The place of Humanities
At a time of growing inquiry into the dynamics of religions, often as a consequence of disillusionment with established practices, the XIX Autumn Colloquium associates itself with the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, and proposes a reflection on this dynamics from the perspective of the Humanities.
In the sixteenth century, the desire to return to the roots of an original faith was the driving force behind the centring of the sacred word as the sole source of faith. Several translations of the Bible have subsequently appeared, the most famous one being Luther’s translation of the New Testament from Koine Greek into German.
As with Religion, the Humanities strive for values that go beyond the utilitarian; Arts release sensibilities, Languages enable communication between peoples and contribute to a better understanding of the acquisition and transmission of knowledge, a facet often in conflict with religion itself.
Based on the relationship between religion and humanities, the XIX Autumn Colloquium welcomes contributions focussed on the following topics:
- Panel "Religion in the context of persecution and fleeing"
- Panel “On the religious body: representations and drifts in the contemporary arts and literature”
- Panel: “SRR and transdisciplinary practices while researching in the Social and Humanity Sciences; methodological proposals, contributes and applications”
