Historians of Netherlandish Art announces the publication of the Journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art or JHNA, vol. 9:1 (Winter 2017). This special issue, edited by Stephanie Dickey, Nadine Orenstein, and Alison Kettering, honors the memory of Walter Liedtke, former Curator of European Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, who died in 2015. Seventeen of his colleagues have contributed essays, all of them aligned in some way with Walter’s interests at the Metropolitan. A dedication and a bibliography of Walter’s publications accompany the essays.

JHNA is the electronic journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art, founded in 2009. Dedicated to the study of Netherlandish, German, and Franco-Flemish art and architecture (c.1350-1750), the journal publishes issues of peer-reviewed articles every winter and summer. This includes studies of painting, sculpture, graphic arts, tapestry, architecture, and decoration, from the perspectives of art history, art conservation, museum studies, historiography, city and regional planning, and collecting history.
