The Department of Art History at the University of Manchester is pleased to invite applications for its Art History Research Bursary. The award will cover tuition fees for the duration of a three-year PhD project in the history of art, broadly conceived.
This award will cover:
A contribution to Home/UK tuition fees (3 years full-time, 6 years part-time)
This award does not cover:
- Maintenance costs.
- Costs incurred through a visa application (including the immigration health surcharge).
- Costs incurred through travel or relocation.
Offers of funding are not deferrable. If you cannot start your programme by the date mentioned in your studentship offer letter, the award will be withdrawn. You are permitted to re-apply in future.
This funding is available to all nationalities.
This funding is available to students undertaking study in Art History and Visual Studies.
In order to be considered for this bursary you must meet this criteria:
- Bachelor's (Honours) degree at 2:1 or above (or overseas equivalent); and
- Master's degree in a relevant subject - with an overall average of 65% or above, a minimum mark of 65% in your dissertation and no mark below 55% (or overseas equivalent)

Complete your application prior to the advertised funding deadline (see key dates below) with all necessary supporting documents (How to apply). Specify in the funding section of your PhD application form (Section 9) that you wish to be considered for the Art History Postgraduate Research Bursary.
