The Department of the History of Art at the University of California, Riverside, seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach two courses in Critical Museum Studies during the 2025-2026 academic year. The syllabi should reflect the applicant’s research expertise–region and period are open–with attention to leading issues in the field of Collecting and Display broadly conceived.
A Ph.D. and teaching experience at the college or university level are required.
Responsibilities include: 2 courses, one graduate-level seminar in Winter quarter, 2026 (January 2–March 20), and one upper-division lecture in Spring 2026
(March 25–June 12), with the possibility of an additional graduate seminar in Spring. Other responsibilities include advising students and participating in
department service. Based on qualifications, we may consider splitting the appointment between individuals.
The salary for each course is approximately $12,433.
