Este programa fue iniciado en 2001 por la Universidad de Leipzig para reunir a jóvenes académicos especializados en el arte del Renacimiento italiano. Desde 2016, el programa se ha expandido a una red internacional de universidades, incluyendo las de Würzburg, París, Jaén, Praga y Turín, que alternan la organización de conferencias. El objetivo principal es promover el intercambio científico internacional sobre la investigación en artes visuales del Renacimiento, enfocándose en estudios interdisciplinarios que aborden diversos géneros artísticos.

Las conferencias se centran en temas como la influencia de la teoría del arte y la arquitectura en la época moderna temprana, y cómo la revalorización del patrimonio grecorromano impactó en el Renacimiento. Se destacan las influencias italianas y su adaptación a contextos locales. Además, se analizan los mecanismos de circulación de estas influencias a través de viajes, grabados, tratados y descripciones. En 2023, se lanzó una revista digital que publica las contribuciones de estos encuentros. El último congreso en Praga (2024) amplió la discusión sobre la recepción del Renacimiento en el arte del siglo XIX y XX, además de reflexionar sobre el concepto historiográfico de "Renacimiento".

La nueva edición se celebrará entre los días 17 y 19 de junio en Baeza (Jaén, España) donde habrá un análisis internacional sobre la formación de los distintos clasicismos en Europa, su nacimiento y su evolución, centrándose en los viajes de clientes y artistas. En este contexto, Andalucía representa un fenómeno esencial gracias a su clasicismo temprano, el importante papel de Carlos V y su entorno en la renovación artística y la influencia de las tradiciones islámica y gótica. Las obras buscan profundizar en este movimiento, centrándose en influencias provenientes de Italia, Francia y otras regiones de la Península Ibérica y comparándolo con la dinámica de otros clasicismos, particularmente en los territorios bajo el dominio de los Habsburgo. Están previstas visitas a importantes hitos de la arquitectura y las artes visuales en Baeza, Jaén, Úbeda y los castillos de Canena y Sabiote.

This program was launched in 2001 by the University of Leipzig to bring together young scholars specializing in Italian Renaissance art. Since 2016, the program has expanded to an international network of universities, including those in Würzburg, Paris, Jaén, Prague, and Turin, which alternate in organizing conferences. The main objective is to promote international scientific exchange on research in Renaissance visual arts, focusing on interdisciplinary studies that address diverse artistic genres.

The conferences focus on topics such as the influence of art and architectural theory in the early modern period, and how the revaluation of Greco-Roman heritage impacted the Renaissance. Italian influences and their adaptation to local contexts are highlighted. Furthermore, the mechanisms by which these influences circulate are analyzed through travel, prints, treatises, and descriptions. In 2023, a digital journal publishing the contributions from these meetings was launched. The last congress in Prague (2024) expanded the discussion on the reception of the Renaissance in 19th and 20th-century art, in addition to reflecting on the historiographical concept of "Renaissance."

The new edition will be held from June 17 to 19 in Baeza (Jaén, Spain), where there will be an international analysis of the formation of the various Classicisms in Europe, their birth and evolution, focusing on the journeys of patrons and artists. In this context, Andalusia represents a key phenomenon thanks to its early Classicism, the important role of Charles V and his entourage in artistic renewal, and the influence of Islamic and Gothic traditions. The presentations seek to delve deeper into this movement, focusing on influences from Italy, France, and other regions of the Iberian Peninsula and comparing it with the dynamics of other Classicisms, particularly in the territories under Habsburg rule. Visits to important landmarks in architecture and the visual arts are planned in Baeza, Jaén, Úbeda, and the castles of Canena and Sabiote.
