The Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome is offering the following scholarship:

Ursula Nilgen Scholarship (Predoc).

Sponsored by the Ursula Nilgen Hertziana Foundation, the department of Prof. Dr. Tanja Michalsky offers 6-month scholarships for students with dissertation projects on medieval art in Italy (up to about 1250).

The scholarship offers a 6-month stay at the Bibliotheca Hertziana ­– Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome and a stipend of 1,365 EUR/month plus a foreign allowance of 818 EUR/month.

To be eligible, candidates must be enrolled as doctoral students at a university. To apply, candidates must submit a curriculum vitae in table form, a short project description with a bibliography (max 3 pages), a research timeline, as well as the contact addresses of two potential referees (no letters of recommendation). It can be submitted in German, Italian or English. Good Italian language skills are required. It is expected that interim results of the research will be presented during the stay at the Institute and that the opportunities of the Institute for lectures and publications will be used.
