Savannah College of Art and Design's Third Biennial Art History Symposium:
Africa On My Mind: Contemporary Art, Home and Abroad, February 26th and
27th.
The goal of this symposium is to encourage representation by a variety of
media and scholarship regarding cultural and geographical areas in Africa
and the African Diaspora.

Keynote Address: Independent curator and internationally renowned art
critic, lecturer, novelist and essayist Simon Njami will deliver the
keynote address Friday, Feb. 26, 7 p.m., at SCAD\'s Arnold Hall, 1810 Bull
St. This talk is free and open to the public.
Njami has served as artistic director of the Bamako photography biennale
since 2001, and he was co-curator of the first African pavilion at the
52nd Venice Biennale in 2007. He has curated numerous exhibitions of
African art and photography, including Africa Remix and the first African
Art Fair, held in Johannesburg in 2008.
Exhibitions: Special exhibitions of contemporary African art are planned
for four SCAD galleries and the Artists-Panel, Session VI of the symposium
on February 27th, will include among others Youssef Nabil, Thomas Barry,
Cedric Nunn, and Penny Siopis.
