präsentiert in einer Online-Ausstellung Siegel des Mittelalters und der
frühen Neuzeit aus zwei der wichtigsten Siegelbestände Italiens
Das Siegel mit seiner 9000 Jahre alten Geschichte gehört zu einem der
ältesten Reproduktionsmedien von Bildern und stellt mit seinen
vielfältigen sozialen, rechtshistorischen und bildimmanenten Bezügen ein
hochkomplexes kulturelles Phänomen dar. Die Online-Ausstellung will
insbesondere auf das Siegel als Reproduktionsmedium hinweisen und
präsentiert deshalb sowohl Siegelstempel als auch Siegelabdrücke aus zwei
der wichtigsten Siegelbestände Italiens: Das Museo Nazionale del Bargello
besitzt mit seinen 2.761 Stempeln eine der größten und bedeutendsten
Siegelstempelsammlungen in Europa. Das Staatsarchiv in Florenz, Archivio
di Stato di Firenze, beherbergt das wertvolle Corpus der "sigilli
staccati", nahezu 900 Siegelabdrücke, die im Zuge der Errichtung des
Archivio Diplomatico durch Großherzog Pietro Leopoldo im Jahr 1778 von
ihren Urkunden abgetrennt wurden und heute getrennt aufbewahrt werden.
Die Fotokampagne, die die Photothek des Kunsthistorischen Instituts in
Florenz im Museo Nazionale del Bargello speziell zur Online-Ausstellung
realisiert hat, ist auch über die Digitale Fotothek www.khi.fotothek.org
recherchierbar. Das Archivio di Stato di Firenze hat dankenswerterweise
Aufnahmen seiner Siegelabdrücke zur Verfügung gestellt. Die nächste
Online-Ausstellung wird am 22. Februar 2010 eröffnet und widmet sich
Grotten der frühen Neuzeit.

Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz espone in
una mostra online sigilli del Medioevo e della prima età moderna,
provenienti da due delle maggiori collezioni di sigilli italiane.
Il sigillo, con i suoi 9000 anni di storia, è uno dei più antichi mezzi di
riproduzione di immagini e costituisce un fenomeno culturale altamente
complesso da diversi punti di vista - sociale, storico-giuridico, visivo.
La mostra vuole richiamare l'attenzione sul sigillo come mezzo di
riproduzione e presenta quindi sia matrici sia impronte provenienti di due
dei più importanti fondi di sigilli in Italia: il Museo Nazionale del
Bargello possiede, con i suoi 2.761 sigilli, una delle più vaste ed
importanti collezioni di sigilli matrici in Europa. L'Archivio di Stato di
Firenze ospita il pregevole corpus dei "sigilli staccati", quasi 900
impronte di sigilli, che, nel corso della costruzione dell'Archivio
Diplomatico eseguita dal Granduca Pietro Leopoldo nel 1778, furono
staccate dai rispettivi documenti e sono oggi conservate separatamente.
La campagna fotografica, realizzata dalla Fototeca del Kunsthistorisches
Institut in Florenz presso il Museo Nazionale del Bargello appositamente
per la mostra online, può essere consultata anche nella Fototeca Digitale
su www.khi.fotothek.org. L'Archivio di Stato di Firenze ha gentilmente
messo a disposizione alcune riproduzioni fotografiche delle sue impronte
di sigilli. La prossima mostra online sarà inaugurata il 22 febbraio 2010
e sarà dedicata alle grotte della prima età moderna.

Institut in Florenz displays seals from the Middle Ages and the early
modern age, from two of the most important Italian collections of seals.
The seal, with its nine thousand year history, is one of the oldest image
reproduction media and represents a highly complex cultural phenomenon by
way of its multiple references to social and legal history, and the
history of art. The exhibition aims to call attention to the seal as a
means of reproduction and thus presents both matrices and impressions from
the two most important collections of seals in Italy: the Museo Nazionale
del Bargello, with its 2,761 seals, owns one of the largest and most
important collections of seal matrices in Europe. The Archivio di Stato di
Firenze houses the valuable corpus of "detached seals", nearly 900
impressions of seals which, during the construction of the Archivio
Diplomatico executed by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo in 1778, were detached
from their respective documents and are today conserved separately.
The photo campaign, realized by the Photo Library of the Kunsthistorisches
Institut in Florenz at the Museo Nazionale del Bargello especially for the

www.khi.fotothek.org. L'Archivio di Stato di Firenze has kindly made some
photographic reproductions of its seal impressions available for online
display. The next online exhibition will open on 22 February 2010 and will
be dedicated to the grottoes of the early modern age.
