Aufgabengebiet:
Forschung und Lehre im Bereich der europäischen Kunstgeschichte des
18.-20. Jahrhunderts mit einem Schwerpunkt in der französischen Kunst
und
Kunsttheorie

Einstellungsvoraussetzungen:
gem. § 100 BerlHG

Weitere Anforderungen:
Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen kulturwissenschaftlichen und
theoretischen Diskursen, Erfahrung mit interdisziplinären
Arbeitszusammenhängen sowie der erfolgreichen Einwerbung und
Durchführung
von Drittmittelprojekten. Internationale Lehr- und Forschungserfahrung.

Erwartungen an die künftige Tätigkeit:
Zusammenarbeit mit den ortsansässigen Sammlungen, Museen und
wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen; Mitarbeit in den ortsansässigen
Forschungsinitiativen, vor allem dem Frankreich-Zentrum der Freien
Universität Berlin, dem SFB 626 ("Ästhetische Erfahrung im Zeichen der
Entgrenzung der Künste") und dem Exzellenzcluster "Languages of
Emotion";
besonderes Engagement in der Lehre und motivierte Beteiligung an der
akademischen Selbstverwaltung.

invites applications for a tenured

Professorship in the History of Modern and Contemporary Art (W2/W3)

The successful applicant will be required to do research and teach in
the
area of European art history of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries
with an
emphasis on French art and art theory.

In accordance with article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act
(Berliner Hochschulgesetz), a Habilitation, junior professorship, or
equivalent postdoctoral qualification is required for this position.

The appointee will have an outstanding track record of successful
university teaching and research with a strong international component.
Her or his work should be dealing with contemporary cultural and
theoretical issues. Candidates are expected to have experience with
interdisciplinary cooperation, as well as acquiring funding for, and
carrying out, sponsored research.

The appointee should be willing to cooperate with local art museums,
collections, and academic institutions. Readiness for joint
collaboration
with resident researchers—in particular at the Center for French Studies
at Freie Universität; the collaborative research center SFB 626:
Esthetic
Experience and the Dissolution of Artistic Limits; and the "Cluster of
Excellence" Languages of Emotion—is pivotal. The successful candidate
will
be expected to embrace teaching responsibilities with great dedication,
and to be willing to assume administrative tasks in the academic
institutions concerned.

In general, the language of instruction is German, but some teaching may
be conducted in English. A non-German-speaking appointee will need to be
able to teach in German within two years.

The vacancy is a tenured position at the rank of either W2 or W3. The
level of appointment will be commensurate with the nominee's
qualifications and experience. She or he will be appointed either as a
public servant or as a comparable salaried employee.
