Der NCCR Bildkritik / Iconic Criticism, Basel, richtet in diesem Jahr
erneut eine Summer School aus:

BILDPROJEKTIONEN, EIKONES SUMMER SCHOOL 2009
23. – 28. AUGUST 2009, BASEL (CH)

In vier transdisziplinaer angelegten Kursen widmet sich die
diesjaehrige eikones Summer School Grenzbereichen von Bildlichkeit.
Das Themenspektrum der Kurse reicht von der Konsolidierung oder
Kontraktion des Bildes zum Objekt in der Kunst der Moderne über die
Verwandlung der Wahrnehmung durch die moderne Urbanisierung und ihren
Niederschlag in filmisch bewegter Bildlichkeit, das Verhaeltnis des
Filmbildes als Dokumentationsmedium in der Ethnologie zu animistischen
Glaubensformen bis hin zu den vielfaeltigen Rollen, die das Bild als
Paradigma im franzoesischen Denken des 20. Jahrhunderts gespielt hat.
Gemeinsam ist diesen Perspektiven auf unterschiedliche Formen und
Einsaetze des Bildes das Motiv der Projektion: Als Produktionsweise von
(bewegten) Bildern, aber auch als Modus der Ueberschreitung von Bildern
und Objekten auf Felder imaginärer und sozialer Relationen praegen
Prozesse der Projektion die Bildpraxis des 20. Jahrhunderts in
entscheidender Weise.

PROJECTING IMAGES, THE 2009 EIKONES SUMMER SCHOOL
AUGUST 23rd– 28th, 2009
BASEL (CH)

The four transdisciplinary courses of this year’s eikones Summer
School focus on threshold areas of iconicity. The course topics
will range from the object in Modern Art as a consolidation or
contraction of the image to the transformation of perception by
modern urbanization and its reflection in motion pictures, from the
filmed image as a medium of documentation in ethnology to the manifold
roles the image played as a paradigm in the French philosophy of the
20th century. All these perspectives of the various forms and uses of
images have in common that they concentrate on modes of projection:
as a method of pro¬ducing pictures, but also going beyond pictures and
objects into fields of imaginary and social relations, processes of
projection strongly influenced iconic practices of the 20th century.
