Women's Creativity around 1800

One-day Workshop preceding the Annual Meeting of the
Canadian Association of University Teachers of German (CAUTG)
at Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, 23-26 May 2009.
Youare invited to submit proposals for 20-minute papers in English
orGerman to be given at a one-day thematic workshop on all aspects
ofwomen's creativity in the period around 1800. Foci of interest
mayinclude but are not limited to women's literary productions in
thecontext of contemporary (1750-1830) aesthetics, philosophy,
andanthropology; innovative aspects of women's contributions to
theatreand visual arts; women's self-definitions as writers and
artists;gender in genre and media studies; and gender aspects of
culturalnetworking and communication. The workshop is meant to
encouragecultural-historical approaches to gender issues in the field
of GermanStudies. A maximum of eight contributions will be selected.
Pleaseemail your proposal as an attachment (Word document or .rtf
file, max.600 words) no later than 9 January 2009. Please include
your universityaffiliation and contact information in the e-mail to
which you attachyour proposal. Decisions will be announced by the end
of January.
Althoughthe workshop will take place outside the framework of the
CAUTG AnnualMeeting, participants are invited and encouraged to
