We are looking to appoint a colleague with a research interest in and
ability to teach and develop programmes of teaching in Early Modern Art
c1300 - c1800. An RAE profile (early career researchers
included) is essential. We are also looking for evidence of a post- RAE
research programme, preferably including the ability to raise external
grant funding. The successful applicant will be expected to teach on the
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Art History and in other
related academic areas, and to develop undergraduate and postgraduate
courses that reflect their areas of research interest within the School of
Humanities, as well as undertaking the whole range of departmental duties.

£49.09 per hour / 2-3 hours teaching per week (including lecture)

Fixed term up to 31 July 2008

IFCELS is a lively and vibrant department of SOAS which provides academic
foundation and English language courses for international students.

The Department runs a pre-undergraduate foundation programme –
Intermediate Certificate Course in Comparative International Studies (ICC).
The Art History of Europe, Africa and Asia is one of ten elective units
offered on ICC and is taught at CATS level 0.

As the successful candidate, you will be well-qualified in the field of
Asian Art History and will work alongside lecturers in African and Western
Art History, sharing responsibility for the programme of 24 lectures and
accompanying seminars. Substantial experience in teaching international
students is highly desirable. As part of the Department’s integrated
approach to language learning, the postholder will work closely with one
or more English language support teachers. Please note that a research
record is not a requirement for the post. This post commences on 1
September 2007.
