Panel discussion with Kasper König and Carina Plath, members of the
curatorium of skulptur projekte muenster 07, Guy Ben-Ner and Silke
Wagner, participating artists in the project, and Sabeth Buchmann,
lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Moderated by Markus Müller.

skulptur projekte muenster 07 - curated by Brigitte Franzen, Carina
Plath and Kasper König - takes place for the fourth time in summer 2007.
Since 1977, this important international exhibition of contemporary art
invitesbevery ten years artists from all over the word to newly define
the relationship of art and the public. The parcours of site-specific
installations and sculptures within the city of Muenster will offer new
insights on urbanity. The following artists amongst others have already
agreed to participate: Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, Hans-Peter
Feldmann, Isa Genzken, Mike Kelley, and Rosemarie Trockel.
In a series of talks and as run-up to the exhibition the curators will
discuss with artists of the project major issues such as: What are the
possibilities of artists today to create publicness? What is the future
of public space - within the area of conflict between dilapidation and
occupation? What forms of public participation contribute today to "art
insociety"?

Möglichkeiten des Öffentlichen

Mit Kasper König und Carina Plath, Mitglieder des Kuratorenteams
skulptur projekte münster 07, Guy Ben-Ner und Silke Wagner, teilnehmende
KünstlerInnen, sowie Sabeth Buchmann, Professorin Akademie der Künste,
Wien. Moderation: Markus Müller.

Im Sommer 2007 finden - zum vierten Mal und kuratiert von Brigitte
Franzen, Carina Plath und Kasper König - die skulptur projekte münster
07 statt. Diese internationale Großausstellung lädt seit 1977 alle zehn
Jahre Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus aller Welt ein, um das Verhältnis
von Kunst und Öffentlichkeit neu zu definieren. Ein Parcours von
ortsspezifischen Installationen und Skulpturen macht den Stadtraum von
Münster neu erfahrbar. Für das Projekt im nächsten Jahr haben bisher
u.a. zugesagt:
Michael Elmgreen und Ingar Dragset, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Isa Genzken,
Mike Kelley und Rosemarie Trockel.
Im Vorfeld diskutieren jetzt die KuratorInnen zusammen mit einigen
KünstlerInnen des Projektes die zentralen Fragestellungen: Welche
Möglichkeiten haben KünstlerInnen heute, Öffentlichkeit(en) zu schaffen?
Welche Zukunft hat der öffentliche Raum - im Spannungsfeld zwischen
Verwahrlosung und Vereinnahmung? Und welche öffentlichen
Partizipationsformen gestalten heute das gesellschaftliche Projekt
"Kunst" mit?
