Subject: acquisition request contribution
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would be grateful for any information that h-arthist users could provide
on acquisitions, by purchase, gift, or bequest, of paintings and drawings by
Cézanne, by museums and galleries worldwide, since 2000.

The Burlington Magazine hopes to publish a group of such acquisitions in a
supplement of its forthcoming September issue (devoted to Cézanne on the
centenary of the artist's death in 1906) which I am compiling.

Many thanks indeed,

John-Paul Stonard

Subject: Orient Express Artist
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear List Members,

I am conducting research on a couple of artists responsible for creating the
advertising posters of the Orient Express train in the 1880s and early
1890s. An artist by the name of Rafael de Ochoa y Madrazo was the author of
many compositions; however, I have not been able to find much information
about him. I would appreciate your assistance in locating sources related
to this artist.

Many thanks,

Radha Dalal

Research for a bibliography of historical images of slavery and the slave
trade in fine art

We are looking for historical art, as well as book titles and research
papers on art depicting slavery and the slave trade, particularly from the
16th-19th centuries.

This search covers all countries and cultures with emphasis on all Western
Europe: Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, France, UK, Spain, Portugal, etc. All
languages are welcome - web links as well as traditional forms of citation.

All thoughts, suggestions and contributions are welcome.
