Savannah College of Art and Design Art History Symposium
"The New Renaissance: An Interactive Paradigm"

The Department of Art History at the Savannah College of Art and Design
announces a one-day symposium to be held Friday, April 14th, 2006. This
event will explore the ways in which new media art practice has sparked a
new renaissance--an interdisciplinary praxis that enables integrated forms
of research and knowledge production. Areas of investigation include art as
system, telematics, mechatronics, genetic art, art as software, hacktivism,
interactive installation/performance, generative art and other areas
relevant to this concept.
The symposium will be a one-day event that will provide a forum for dynamic
discussion with a distinguished international panel of speakers.

Dr. Katherine Hayles (University California, Los Angeles);
Dr. Timothy Jackson (SCAD)
Prof. Michael Joyce (Vassar College)
Dr. Edward Shanken (SCAD).
