Assistant Professor, Art History
Permanent, full time post
We are seeking a specialist in the History of Renaissance Art, 1400-1600,
preferably with research interests in the history of Italian Renaissance
art. You will offer teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels,
undertake supervision of research students and be active in research and
publication. You will also be required to undertake some administrative
responsibilities within the School.
You should have a good first degree and a completed PhD in the History of
Art, and evidence of published research or exceptional potential. Teaching
experience at degree level is desirable, as are IT skills relevant to the
history of art and visual culture.
Salary range: £27,196 to £29,492 p.a. inc., dependent upon qualifications
and experience.

Faculty Position
Design Theorist / Liberal Arts Environment
The Cleveland Institute of Art seeks qualified applicants for a full-time
faculty position to teach design theory at the undergraduate and graduate
levels. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of current approaches
to design as integral to culture and society. A solid understanding of
historical perspectives is essential, but primary emphasis will be on the
interdisciplinary engagement of design and designers in contemporary
contexts, including: production, global politics and ethics of design;
design semantics and semiotics; and convergent media. The successful
candidate will be engaged in program and curriculum development.
Opportunities exist for innovative collaboration and joint program
development with neighboring institutions such as Case Western Reserve
University. Position begins August 2005.
Qualifications: Ph.D. is preferred in one of the following: sociology,
psychology, anthropology, art history and visual culture, science and
technology studies, media studies, or other appropriate field. Applicants
should also have at least two years of teaching experience; show evidence
of professional/scholarly activity; and demonstrated promise of
contributing to liberal arts curriculum development at both the
undergraduate and graduate level.
Position Requirements: Participation in departmental and school-wide
committees and assessment of programs is required by full-time ranked
faculty members.
