Lecturer in History of Art (fixed term 3 years)

School of Historical Studies

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of History of Art
where you will teach undergraduate lectures and seminars, contribute to
expanding Masters programmes and make a significant contribution to
research output.

Your research interests will be in an area of European Art c.1500 - 1950,
or a complementary field. You will have completed your PhD in a related
subject, and be able to demonstrate an established commitment to research
and publication. Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is
desirable.

Starting salary £23,643.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer for a new, full-time position in the
area of Contemporary Visual Arts and Theory. The successful applicant
would need to have specialist knowledge in new and recent media and
technologies, as well as knowledge of, and expertise in, 20th century
visual arts and related theories generally, in particular modernist and
postmodernist and photographic.

Applicants should either have a PhD or be able to demonstrate that their
PhD is close to completion. In addition, the successful applicant would
have substantial teaching experience at university level, as well as a
strong publication record. Involvement, besides teaching and research, in
the contemporary art world would be an advantage, as would experience in
administration.

It is planned that the position would be filled from the beginning of the
new academic year in New Zealand in 2005 (1 February). Applicants should
include two pieces of published work and full CVs with their applications.
