This symposium explores the development of a language of ornament from
nineteenth-century Romanticism through to early twentieth-century
surrealism, looking at aesthetic theory, visual art and literature.
Speakers include Spyros Papapetros (Warburg/Canadian Centre for
Architecture), Debra Schafter (San Antonio College), Catriona MacLeod
(University of Pennsylvania) and Katie Scott (Courtauld Institute of Art).
