Call for Papers

The International Association for Word & Image Studies IAWIS/AIERTI are
organising
their sixth triennial conference at the University of Hamburg,
in collaboration with the Kunstgeschichtliches Seminar, from 21 to 27 July
2002.
We invite specialists in various fields to present aspects of their work
in which the use of texts and images is involved. We are particularly
interested in the pragmatic aspect of work in these fields and invite
reflection on methodological, theoretical and other problems raised. In
addition to sessional papers, poster-format presentations relating to any
of the conference topics will be most welcome. Papers may be selected for
publication in the conference proceedings; posters accepted may be viewed
on our website.
Prospective participants should send proposals in duplicate to the
appropriate day organizers (see below), including a résumé of not more
than 200 words in English or French stating in this order before the text
of the proposal:
1. The heading of the section to which the paper is to be directed
2. Name and institutional address of the author
3. Title of the proposed paper.
After the text of the proposal, which should not exceed one page, please
indicate
full address, fax and e-mail address to which all correspondence
should be directed.

Deadline for submission of proposals: 30 November 2001.
Confirmation of acceptance of papers and posters will be received by
participants
in January 2002.

The theme of the conference will be orientations - Word & Image and will
