The Pre-Raphaelite Society Graduate Network aims to bring together an international community of postgraduate students and early career researchers (including academics, curators, independent researchers, educators and creative practitioners, etc.) whose interests encompass the work of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, their associates and successors.
Call for Papers
The Pre-Raphaelite Society Graduate Network invites proposals for contributions to its upcoming Online Seminar Series in Pre-Raphaelite Studies, which will feature two presentations by Early Career Researchers (ECRs). Each session is chaired by a leading expert in the respective area of research, providing a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment for presenters to discuss their work.
This seminar series offers ECRs a valuable opportunity to share their current research projects with a knowledgeable and engaged audience, including scholars, curators, educators, and creative practitioners with a strong interest in Pre-Raphaelite art and its wider cultural contexts. Presenters will benefit from constructive feedback, professional exchange, and the chance to explore potential avenues for future collaboration.
The event also serves as a platform to foster scholarly dialogue and build lasting connections within the growing community of researchers working on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, their associates, and artistic successors. Participants are encouraged to situate their work within broader disciplinary, transhistorical, and methodological frameworks, including but not limited to art history, literary studies, museum studies, gender studies, and ecocriticism.
About the Organisers
Launched in 2023, the Pre-Raphaelite Society Graduate Network brings together an international community of postgraduate students and early career researchers whose work engages with Pre-Raphaelitism in its many forms. This includes academic researchers, museum professionals, educators, independent scholars, and practitioners across the arts. The network seeks to promote inclusive and interdisciplinary exchange, offering early-stage researchers a welcoming space to share ideas, gain visibility for their projects, and connect with peers around the world.
Event Format and Venue
The seminar series will take place online to ensure accessibility for an international audience. Each session will feature two 20-minute papers followed by a moderated Q&A discussion. The link to each seminar session will be distributed in advance to registered participants. The seminar sessions will take place on a Monday each month 7:30p.m.–9:00p.m.
Further details on dates, themes, and application procedures will be circulated shortly. We warmly encourage all interested ECRs working on Pre-Raphaelite topics to consider submitting a proposal. The PRSGN online seminar series will begin again in October. If you would like to give a 20-minute presentation on your research, please send a 100-word abstract and brief biography to PRSGraduateNetworkgmail.com by Friday 18th July.
