The Andrew Ladis Memorial Trecento Conference is held approximately every two years in honor of the art historian Andrew Ladis (1949–2007), an authority on Taddeo Gaddi and Giotto and an inspiring teacher. The conference—the only gathering of its kind—emphasizes trecento Italian art as a fruitful area of research and offers participants the opportunity to exchange ideas formally and informally in a collegial environment. The next conference will be held October 23-25, 2025 at the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, Georgia. The conference will be hybrid so that those unable to come in person can attend virtually. Presentations can also be given virtually if we can have them slightly in advance to make sure the tech runs smoothly. Twenty-four scholars will be selected to present papers, edited versions of which will be published by Brepols Press (Trecento Forum series). The Proceedings from the previous conference, held virtually by the Frist Art Museum in 2022, will be presented, either in print or in proof form.
Abstracts & C.V.
Scholars at all career stages (including doctoral students) are invited to submit proposals for twenty-minute papers on any aspect of Italian art of the “long fourteenth century” (from about 1250 to 1450). MA students may apply but must provide a letter of support from a professor with whom they have taken a graduate-level course.
Please submit an abstract (approximately 500 words) and curriculum vitae by MARCH 16, 2025 (note new deadline). Please combine the documents in that order into a single Word file or PDF with Lastname_Firstname as the filename and email it to LadisTrecentoConferencegmail.com. The planning committee will review all proposals and respond by the end of APRIL.
Registration and Costs
Conference registration will open in early summer 2025. In addition to the 24 individuals presenting papers, other members of the Trecento Forum are most welcome to register to attend. There are no fees and several meals will be provided to all attending. Limited financial assistance may be available for those requesting it by submitting a budget and an indication of other potential sources of funding. Priority will be given to presenters, but others may also apply. Further information about registration and application for financial aid will be posted in late spring.
Andrew Ladis Memorial Trecento Conferences have proved themselves to be a wonderful way to get feedback on your work, network, and become friends with colleagues!
