The 6th Swiss Congress for Art History will be hosted by the University of Geneva from 7 to 9 September 2026.

Organized jointly by the Swiss Association of Art Historians (VKKS | ASHHA | ASSSA) and the Division of Art History at the University of Geneva, the Congress welcomes art historians and researchers on art from all fields and institutions. You are invited to submit a proposed theme for a session that you would like to organize and lead. The deadline for session proposals is 24 March 2025.

The final choice of session themes will be made by a scholarly advisory board consisting of members of the VKKS and the Division of Art History at the University of Geneva, as well as representatives from the museums of the City of Geneva, HEAD – Genève, University of the Arts and Design, and the Heritage Conservation Department of the Canton of Geneva.

You will be informed of the acceptance or rejection of your section proposal by 5 June 2025. In case of a positive response, the successful applicants should write their final session text and send it to the VKKS by 19 June 2025. The Call for Papers will be distributed by the VKKS. The deadline for proposals is 12 September 2025, and the final decision on the choice of speakers will be communicated to the Directors of the Congress before 10 October 2025. Three to five speakers will be selected for each session, ensuring equal opportunities in terms of age, gender, and diversity. We are particularly interested in supporting junior researchers.

Please submit your theme proposal (1 page, maximum of 2000 characters, including spaces) along with a short CV (both as PDFs) by 24 March 2025, via e-mail to vkks2026unige.ch.

The conference languages are English, German, French, and Italian. All session leaders and speakers will be exempt from the registration fee. The VKKS will contribute to accommodation costs.

Vom 7. bis 9. September 2026 findet der 6. Schweizerische Kongress für Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Genf statt.

Der von der Vereinigung der Kunsthistorikerinnen und Kunsthistoriker in der Schweiz (VKKS | ASHHA | ASSSA) sowie der Abteilung für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Genf organisierte Kongress richtet sich an Kunsthistorikerinnen und Kunstwissenschaftlerinnen aller Fachrichtungen und Institutionen. Sie alle sind eingeladen, bis zum 24. März 2025 einen Themenvorschlag für eine Sektion, die Sie leiten und organisieren möchten, einzureichen.

Über die Auswahl der Sektionen entscheidet der wissenschaftliche Kongressbeirat, der sich aus Mitgliedern der VKKS, der Abteilung für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Genf, der Museen der Stadt Genf, der HEAD – Genève, Hochschule für Kunst und Design, sowie der Kantonalen Denkmalpflege Genf zusammensetzt.

Bis zum 5. Juni 2025 werden Sie über die Annahme oder Ablehnung Ihres Sektionsvorschlags informiert. Im Falle einer positiven Antwort verfassen die ausgewählten Sektionsleitungen ihren definitiven Sektionstext und senden diesen bis zum 19. Juni 2025 an die VKKS. Der Call for Papers wird von der VKKS verbreitet. Die Frist für die Beitragsvorschläge läuft bis zum 12. September 2025. Die finale Entscheidung über die ausgewählten Beiträge werden der Kongressleitung bis zum 10. Oktober 2025 mitgeteilt. Für jede Sektion werden drei bis fünf Vortragende ausgewählt, wobei auf eine Chancengleichheit bezüglich Alter, Geschlecht und Diversität zu achten ist. Die Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses ist besonders erwünscht.

Bitte senden Sie Ihren Sektionsvorschlag in Form eines Exposees (1 Seite, max. 2000 Zeichen, inkl. Leerzeichen) sowie einem kurzen Lebenslauf im PDF-Format bis zum 24. März 2025 per E-Mail an vkks2026unige.ch.

Vortragssprachen sind Deutsch, Französisch, Italienisch und Englisch. Alle Sektionsleiterinnen und Referentinnen sind von der Einschreibegebühr für den Kongress befreit. Die VKKS leistet einen Beitrag für die Übernachtungskosten.

L’Université de Genève accueillera le 6e Congrès suisse en histoire de l’art du 7 au 9 septembre 2026.

Le congrès, organisé par l’Association suisse des historiennes et historiens de l’art (VKKS | ASHHA | ASSSA) et l’Unité d’histoire de l’art de l’Université de Genève, s’adresse aux historien·ne·s de l’art de toutes orientations et institutions. Nous vous invitons à proposer avant la date du 24 mars 2025 un thème pour la section que vous souhaiteriez organiser et diriger.

Le conseil scientifique du congrès – composé de membres du comité de l’ASHHA, de l’Unité d’histoire de l’art de l’Université de Genève, de musées de la Ville de Genève et de la HEAD – Genève, Haute école d’art et de design, ainsi que du Service cantonal des monuments historiques du Canton de Genève – se charge de sélectionner les sections.

Les informations concernant l’acceptation ou le rejet de votre proposition seront communiquées avant le 5 juin 2025. En cas de réponse positive, les directions de sections sélectionnées rédigent leur texte de section définitif qui doit être envoyé à l’ASHHA avant le 19 juin 2025. L’appel à contribution sera diffusé par l’ASHHA, la date limite pour les propositions de contributions est fixée au 12 septembre 2025 et la décision finale pour les contributions retenues doit être communiquée à la direction du congrès avant le 10 octobre 2025. Chaque section doit compter entre trois et cinq conférencières et conférenciers, sélectionné·e·s dans le respect de l’égalité entre l’âge, le genre et la diversité. L’encouragement de la relève est particulièrement bienvenu.

Merci d’envoyer votre proposition de section sous la forme d’un résumé (1 page, max. 2’000 signes, espaces compris), accompagnée d’un bref curriculum vitae, les deux en format PDF, avant la date du 24 mars 2025 à l’adresse : vkks2026unige.ch.

Les conférences pourront être prononcées en français, italien, allemand et anglais. Les directrices et directeurs de section comme les conférencières et conférenciers seront exempté·e·s des frais d’inscription au congrès. L’ASHHA contribuera aux frais d’hôtel.

Il 6° Congresso svizzero di storia dell’arte si svolgerà dal 7 al 9 settembre 2026 all’Università di Ginevra.

Il congresso, organizzato dall’Associazione svizzera delle storiche e degli storici dell’arte (VKKS | ASHHA | ASSSA) e dalla Divisione di Storia dell’Arte dell’Università di Ginevra, è rivolto alle storiche e agli storici dell’arte di qualsiasi indirizzo e di qualsiasi istituzione. Chiunque fosse interessato a dirigere e a organizzare una sezione del congresso, è cordialmente invitato a inoltrare entro il 24 marzo 2025 una proposta di argomento.

La selezione delle sezioni sarà definita da un comitato scientifico, composto da membri dell’ASSSA, dalla Divisione di Storia dell’Arte dell’Università di Ginevra, dei musei della Città di Ginevra, della HEAD – Genève, Università di Arte e Design e dei Servizi cantonali per la conservazione dei monumenti storici del canton Ginevra.

Sarete informati dell’accettazione o del rifiuto della vostra proposta di sezione entro il 5 giugno 2025. In caso di risposta positiva, chi avrà superato la selezione scriverà il testo definitivo della sezione e lo invierà all’ASSSA entro il 19 giugno 2025. Il Call for Papers sarà diffuso dall’ASSSA. Il termine per la presentazione delle proposte scade l’12 settembre 2025. La decisione finale sui contributi selezionati sarà comunicata alla Direzione del Congresso entro l’10 ottobre 2025. Per ogni sezione saranno selezionati da tre a cinque relatrici e relatori, garantendo pari opportunità in termini di età, genere e diversità. È particolarmente auspicata la promozione di nuove leve scientifiche.

Vi preghiamo d’inviare la vostra proposta di sezione, accompagnata da un testo di presentazione (1 pagina, max. 2’000 caratteri, spazi inclusi) e da un breve curriculum vitae (entrambi in formato PDF), entro il 24 marzo 2025 all’indirizzo e-mail: vkks2026unige.ch.

La conferenza si terrà in italiano, francese, tedesco e inglese. Le responsabili e i responsabili di sezione, le relatrici e i relatori sono esenti dalla quota d’iscrizione al congresso. L’ASSSA contribuirà ai costi di pernottamento.
