13th Forum for East Asian Art History in German-speaking Countries.
Free University of Berlin / Museum für Asiatische Kunst.
We are pleased to announce that the Forum for East Asian Art History in German-speaking Countries will be returning to Berlin with its 13th annual symposium in 2025.
Inaugurated in 2012 to promote academic exchange among young scholars in East Asian art history and related disciplines, the Forum serves as a platform for the presentation of individual research projects and the discussion of methodological and institutional perspectives in the field. We encourage applications from international early-career researchers—including doctoral candidates and MA graduates, postdoctoral researchers, junior faculty members, and museum curators—to present ongoing dissertation and research projects or completed MA theses. Proposals for thematic panels with three to four speakers are also welcome.
To apply for a twenty-minute presentation in German or English, please send an abstract of around 250 words with at least three keywords, and a short CV (max. 1 page) to Ruri Kawanami (ruri.kawanamifu-berlin.de). The application documents should be attached as a single PDF file. Panel proposals should include abstracts for the panel and for each individual paper. The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2024.
Please note that the Forum will be held in person. Speakers are expected to present their papers on-site. We advise participants to apply for travel funds from their home institutions. Modest travel subsidies may be made available by the Forum later.
We look forward to receiving your applications.
