Dear colleagues, it is with great pleasure that we announce the call for submissions for the second colloquium "Crítica. Media. Memory: Transatlantic Dialogues in Architecture", which is scheduled to take place at the Arnaldo Araújo Study Center of the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, Porto (Portugal).

The colloquium aims to address the history of architectural criticism through a transatlantic lens. This event is a joint initiative between prominent institutions on both sides of the Atlantic, including Escola Superior Artística do Porto, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Universidade de São Paulo, Universidade Politécnica de Madrid and the Goethe University Frankfurt.
The deadline for submitting abstracts (500 words) is April 15, 2024. Instructions and links for submitting abstracts and papers are available on our homepage criticamemoria.org

Scope of contributions: We invite original, unpublished proposals that study criticism operations, their different actors and their historically intertwined routes that cross and occur by means of the Atlantic Ocean. Examples: objects in transit; spaces of definition, legitimation and mediation of different cultures of criticism; the proposed agendas and dialogues; and the historiography and the memory of criticism.

Discussion axes+ (indicative):
The transatlantic experience and criticism operation:
This axis invites to discussions on the historicity of architectural criticism in the transatlantic sphere.
Suggested topics: Critics and their trajectories; objects in transit; agendas of criticism construed in transit; spaces of definition and legitimation between different cultures of criticism.

+Note on the discussion axes: These axes are not the roundtables proposed by the event. They are only indicative paths of the colloquium's interest. The roundtables will be defined once the proposals have been received by the coordination of the event.
