Die Tagung "art thinking doing art. Artistic Practices in Educational Contexts from 1900 to Today" eröffnet eine historische wie auch zeitgenössische Untersuchung der Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Kunsterziehung, Kunstproduktion und ideologischen Kontexten. Mit Beiträgen von Wissenschaftlern aus zwölf verschiedenen Ländern nimmt dieses Projekt eine einzigartig breite Perspektive auf die Frage der Kunsterziehung ein, indem es den Prozess der "knowledgization" auch epistemologisch in breiteren Diskussionen über die (Inter-)Materialität, (Gegen-)Institutionalität und (Trans-)Disziplinarität künstlerischer Praktiken verortet und anhand empirischer Fallstudien deren historische Dimension in verschiedenen geopolitischen Kontexten für den Zeitraum von ca. 1900 bis heute untersucht.

Über die gesamte Veranstaltung hinweg sind künstlerische Perspektiven beteiligt. Sie entfalten einen Interventionsraum, dessen grundlegendes Merkmal darin besteht, explorativ zu sein. Die Intervening Lecture des Raqs Media Collectives, die unauffällig in die wissenschaftliche Vortragsreihe integriert ist, und die ständige Präsenz des Kollektivs in Workshops während der Veranstaltung wirken einer monoperspektivischen Ausrichtung der Diskussionen von vornherein entgegen.

English version:

The conference "art thinking doing art. Artistic Practices in Educational Contexts from 1900 to Today" opens a historical as well as contemporary investigation of the interrelationships between art education, art production and ideological contexts. With contributions from scholars from twelve different countries, this project takes a uniquely broad perspective on the question of art education by also epistemologically situating the process of "knowledgization" in broader discussions of the (inter-)materiality, (counter-)institutionality, and (trans-)disciplinarity of artistic practices, and by using empirical case studies to examine their historical dimensions in different geopolitical contexts for the period from about 1900 to the present.

Artistic perspectives are involved throughout the event. They unfold an intervening space whose fundamental characteristic is to be exploratory. The Raqs Media Collective's Intervening Lecture, unobtrusively integrated into the academic lecture series, and the collective's constant presence in workshops throughout the event counteract a monoperspectival orientation of the discussions from the outset.
