At the Academy of Media Arts, the following position in the department Art and Media Studies is available, no earlier than October 15, 2023 for an

artistic/academic research assistant (f/m/d) in Theory and History of Fine Arts with a focus on expanded concepts of materiality and the image.

Prerequisites are a university degree in a subject relevant to art theory/history, cultural studies, and media studies, with a strong focus on discourses of materiality, image theory, and image science. Very good knowledge of contemporary art and the latest art-scientific discourses, which includes decolonial, post-humanist and feminist perspectives, as well as relevant publications in this field are expected.

The scope of duties also includes collaboration in teaching and research, (organization of workshops, symposia, publications) as well as the continuous supervision of student projects at the KHM. Furthermore, participation in the activities of the professorship, involvement in the acquisition of third-party funding, and in the self-administration of the university is expected. Pedagogical aptitude and experience, as well as empathy and social skills and very good English skills are expected. German language skills are expected to be acquired.

The acceptance of the temporary employment relationship according to the Wissenschaftszeit-vertragsgesetz requires the submission of an individual qualification concept in the subject of the advertised position. Applicants are therefore requested to submit a written application of max. 4 pages (including time schedule) outlining the academic qualification they are aiming for in the context of their work at the Academy of Media Arts. The possibility of a doctorate is given. Applications with a postdoctoral project are welcome.

The remuneration is based on the collective agreement (up to pay group 13 TV-L). The employment is fixed-term for up to 6 years with regard to the desired qualification.
