Data Base Administrator (m/w/d)
20% begrenzt auf fünf Jahre

Am Institut für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Bern ist im SNF-geförderten Projekt Global Bones: Entangled Histories, Transfers and Translations in the Early Modern Age ab dem 1. Juli 2023 oder zum frühestmöglichen Zeitpunkt die Stelle einer/s Data Base Administrator (Nodegoat) (m/w/d) zu besetzen.
Global Bones untersucht die globalen Bewegungen christlicher Körperreliquien in der Epoche, die aus europäischer Sicht als Frühe Neuzeit bezeichnet wird. Das Forschungsprojekt beschreibt und analysiert interkontinentale Reliquientransfers und untersucht in lokalen Fallstudien die kulturellen Aushandlungsprozesse, die zwischen Akteur:innen unterschiedlicher kultureller Traditionen über den Umgang mit Körperreliquien stattfanden.

Im Zuge des Projektes wird mit dem web-basierten Forschungs-Environment Nodegoat eine Datenbank erstellt, die bei Projektende veröffentlicht wird. Die/der Administrator pflegt die Website und die Nodegoat-Plattform und weist die Teammitglieder in deren Nutzung ein. Die/der Administrator wird die Daten jederzeit im Auge behalten und die vollen Möglichkeiten der Datenvisualisierung nutzen, die Nodegoat bietet.

Aufgaben
• Mitarbeit bei der Erstellung, Weiterentwicklung und Pflege der Datenbankstruktur in Nodegoat
• Unterrichtung der Projektmitarbeiter:innen im Umgang mit den Forschungsdaten
• Erstellung eines Pflichtenheftes für das Datenmanagement im Projekt
• Mitarbeit bei der Ausgabe, Analyse und digitalen Veröffentlichung der Daten
• Entwicklung und Umsetzung eines Datenmanagementplans für die Datensammlungen des Projekts unter Berücksichtigung der FAIR-Prinzipien (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) und der Grundsätze von Open Science
• Festlegung einer angemessenen Unterstützung und Dateninfrastruktur für FAIR und die langfristige Archivierung der Daten eines Projekts
• Erstellung und Pflege der Projektwebsite

Anforderungen
• gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift
• Kenntnisse in Datensammlung unter Einhaltung der Verhaltenskodizes, Vorschriften und spezifischen rechtlichen und ethischen Standards
• Erfahrungen im Datenmanagement im Bereich der Geisteswissenschaften
• Kenntnisse mit geisteswissenschaftlichen Datenbanken (vorzugweise Nodegoat, Zotero)

Data Base Administrator (m/f/d)

The Institute of Art History at the University of Bern has a vacancy for a Data Base Administrator (Nodegoat) (m/f/d) in the SNSF-funded project Global Bones: Entangled Histories, Transfers and Translations in the Early Modern Age starting on 1 July 2023 or at the earliest possible date.
Global Bones investigates the global trajectories of Christian body relics in the era usually referred to – from a European perspective – as the Early Modern period. The research project describes and analyses intercontinental relic transfers and conducts local case studies to examine the cultural negotiation processes that took place between actors of different cultural traditions regarding the handling of human remains.

In the course of the project, a database will be created using the web-based research environment Nodegoat. The collected research data will be published at the end of the project. The database administrator will maintain the Nodegoat platform and instruct the team members on how to use it. The administrator will keep track of the data at all times and use the full possibilities of visualizing the data that Nodegoat offers. Furthermore, the database administrator will help to develop and implement a data management plan for the project's data collections and will create and maintain the project's website.

Tasks
• to collaborate in the creation and development of the database structure in Nodegoat
• to maintain the Nodegoat platform and data
• to instruct the project researchers in the handling of the research data
• to develop and implement of data management plan for the project's data collections with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles and the principles of Open Science
• the creation of a specification for the data management in the project
• the collaboration in the output, analysis and publication of the data collections
• to identify the requirements of adequate support and data infrastructure for long-term archiving of project's data
• the creation and maintenance of the project website

Requirements
• knowledge in data collections on compliance with codes of conduct, regulations and field specific legal and ethical standards
• experience in data management in the field of humanities (preferably Nodegoat, Zotero)
• good knowledge of written and spoken English
