The Rachofsky Collection announces an open call for submissions for its 2023 Graduate Symposium at The Warehouse Dallas on November 10, 2023 on the theme of The Event, with keynote speaker Dr. Jo Melvin, Professor of Fine Art & Feminisms, University of Arts London. Based on the ideas of British artist John Latham and the Least Event—the smallest moment or action after zero—this symposium will look at six different artists that resonate with Latham’s work through their ideas of time-space, the event, and the moment of creation in art and performance. Students are invited to submit their research on John Latham, Atsuko Tanaka, Giulio Paolini, Michelle Stuart, Shinro Ohtake, and Cheyney Thompson, with preferred focus on works within The Rachofsky Collection.

We invite master’s and doctoral students to present their scholarly work on a host of topics related to this theme and the works of John Latham, Atsuko Tanaka, Giulio Paolini, Michelle Stuart, Shinro Ohtake, or Cheyney Thompson. Students invited to present papers at the symposium will have the opportunity to access works in the collection during a two-day, partially-funded research visit during Summer 2023. Paper presentations should be 20 minutes in length.

Complete proposals must include the following:
• A complete mailing address, email address, phone number, research field, and university affiliation of participant.
• Paper title and abstract of no more than 300 words, with a list of three to five keywords.

Please visit our website for more information about the symposium, research visit, and for a list of works in The Rachofsky Collection related to this theme.
