The Visual Science of Art Conference (VSAC) invites all people who connect visual perception and the arts (e.g. empirical, experimental, philosophical, phenomenological, computational approaches). VSAC began in 2012, when Baingio Pinna organised it as a satellite symposium for the European Conference on Visual Perception (ECVP). Next year, ECVP will be organised in Paphos, Cyprus from Aug 27-31.

The VSAC 2023 organising committee looks forward to hearing from you about your work, and to two exciting Keynote addresses — by Dr. Claus-Christian Carbon (University of Bamberg), and Dr. Jeroen Stumpel (University of Amsterdam).

Important Dates:
- Symposia submissions: until January 15, 2023
- Talk, Poster and Conversation submissions: until March 1, 2023
- Notification of acceptance: April 14, 2023
- Early-bird registration: until May 1, 2023

Symposium Submission Guidelines:
Symposia are ca. two hour sessions centered around a theme. Symposia are a great way to focus on a certain topic, but at the same time to offer a variety of perspectives. Thus we particularly encourage multidisciplinary groups (e.g. including visual artists, art historians, etc).

Symposia will be accepted until Jan 15, 2023. To submit a symposium, please create a pdf with information below, and send it to vsac2023gmail.com. Please contact us if you have any questions, need advice, or want to briefly pitch an idea.

- Symposium title
- Short summary (100 words)
- Summary (500 words)
- Info about organisers (name, institutes, etc)
- Author names and affiliations
- Talk titles
- Talk abstracts (300 words each)
- Acknowledgements

Other Types of Submissions:
We will have two other possible types of submissions — Presentations, Conversations. For these, the deadline will be March 1, 2023.

- Presentations: As is common, there are two presentation formats: Talk and Poster. If you submit a presentation, please provide a title, 300-word abstract, affiliation, and detailed keywords, as well as your preferred presentation format. You may submit only one presentation as first/presenting author, but you can co-author as many as you wish.

- Conversations: Conversations between artists and scientists deserve a special place in VSAC’s program. Conversations typically report collaborative research; but you could also see this as a mini symposium with two speakers. If the 300-word abstract is too limited, you can use the supplementary material.

We look forward to seeing you in Cyprus!
