digitales Symposium über die Gestaltfähigkeit der Künste in der Klimakrise

Die Gestaltungsfähigkeit der Künste in der europäischen Klimapolitik
ist Thema eines transdisziplinären, virtuellen Symposiums am 5. und 6.
März 2022. Unter dem Titel „Re: New European Bauhaus. For a Just
Design of Climate Politics“ schaffen die Organisator:innen der
Initiative Klasse Klima (klasseklima.org) eine Debatten- und
Vernetzungsplattform für die junge, ökologiebewegte Kunst- und
Gestaltungsszene in Europa. Im Fokus steht, wie die Künste wirksam zu
einer klimagerechten Gestaltung des „European Green Deal“ und „New
European Bauhaus“ beitragen können. Impulse bieten Rednerinnen etwa
von der Jan van Eyck Academie, der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung, European
Alternatives, Green New Deal for Europe und dem Kipppunkte Kollektiv.

We warmly invite you to the symposium „Re: New European Bauhaus. For a
Just Design of Climate Politics“, that takes place March 5th and 6th.
Transdisciplinary panels and workshops handle theoretically and
practically the agency of the arts in climate politics. Our aim is to
politice the debate on the transformative project of the EU, the „New
European Bauhaus“ straight from a perspective of climate justice -
with a broad range of speakers from Jan van Eyck Academie, the
Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung, European Alternatives, Green New Deal for
Europe and Kipppunkte Kollektiv. You’ll find the whole program with

Panel: The European Green Deal and Climate Justice
Moderator: Tobias Gralke
The talks in this panel will provide introductions to the state of international and European climate policy from a global justice perspective. Speakers will also present just alternatives and strategies for their realization. The presentations will be followed by an open discussion.

Panel: Art, Architecture, Design, and the Climate Crisis: Old Bauhaus Politics
Moderator: Kaja Ninnis
The talks in this panel will explore the entangled history of modern creative practice, globalized industrial capitalism, and systems of power. Speakers will revisit the Bauhaus reference by presenting the school's and movement's influence from a decolonial-ecological perspective, followed by an open discussion.

The presentations will be followed by a shared discussion.

The talks in this panel will present a variety of constructive, artistic and designerly strategies for politicized engagement in institutional transformation agendas coming from the fields of activism and public sector work. The presentations will be followed by an open discussion.

Workshop: Entangling for a Just Design of Climate Politics
Moderators: Bea Mensing, Julia Rosentstock, Lena Schubert
Georg Blokus (European Alternatives)
This concluding workshop will offer to participants a chance to connect and to explore affinities, commonalities, and shared potentials beyond disciplinary and personal niches. Split into small groups, participants will be invited to position themselves on a map where they can uncover interrelations with others. They will discuss their personal linkages with the preceding panels, and learn from each other's experiences. To link the different groups, a closing plenary will provide a space to negotiate open questions, share resources, and consider potential future interplays.

Description [At ZHdK Zurich, School of Commons will host a public screening of the full symposium. For more information and pre-registration, see column left (Saturday). Sunday night, attendants will be invited for an Apèro, according to the current pandemic situation. Together with Flurina Gradin the ZHdK department of design participants will look for further entanglement in local networks.]

March 6th, Collective Walking Tour From Bauhaus to Bauhaus in Berlin hosted by members of Klasse Klima

From the BAUHAUS building market to the Bauhaus building site, we invite you to a strollological end to the symposium. In addition to passing various Bauhauses, we will be accompanied musically by Bauhaus and toast with products from the Brauhaus.
