COSMIN COSTINAS/INTI GUERRERO
Exhibitionary Communites
2–14 August 2021 (webinar)
Curating is a way of researching and reading different aesthetic realms and cultural lineages, composing them into shared pressing narratives and discussions. Great sensibility and respect for the place where it happens are essential to creating an ‘exhibitionary community’ of artworks, artefacts and people involved. Students will reveal such sensibilities and learn how to shape such patterns of thought and representation. Beyond representation, students will engage with methods of an ‘exhibitionary community’ that dissect, expose and reveal modes of working.

LOUISA ELDERTON/KLAUS SPEIDEL
The Art of Art Writing – From art criticism to creative writing (and back)
26–31 July 2021 or 2–7 August 2021 (hybrid, Hohensalzburg Fortress and online)
Whatever your experience or aims, this course gives you the opportunity to spend a dedicated period of time writing.
Focusing on the practice of writing and editing based on some theory, this course provides a solid introduction to art writing and a space for experimentation. Alternating between reading groups, writing exercises and shared-learning experiences, more intimate breakout rooms give the opportunity to share thoughts and questions in your primary language of German, French or English, during which time you will receive focused individual feedback. The online/offline presence of students from all around the world will be an extra opportunity for an enriching experience.

RUANGRUPA
Becoming „Lumbung“
9–21 August 2021 (hybrid, Hohensalzburg Fortress and online)
‘Lumbung’ is understood as a metaphorical space for an alternative economy based on such values as collectivity, sharing, trust, playfulness, and anchoring the global locally.
Students approach 'lumbung' as a practice of sharing time, space, knowledge, money and care. The class departs from self-organisation, conversation, and assembly to "becoming 'lumbung'" together. Through collective experience, the students reflect on the value of solidarity and sustainability in community-based art-making and curatorial cultures. In this light, they will reflect on their ideas for or practices of collective organisation, be it a form of art or, more broadly, engaging in culture and politics. Furthermore, students learn new ways of exhibition-making as a practice of sharing generosity and empathy in weird times of conflict.
