Call for Paper für die zweite Ausgabe (Winter 2010/2011)

>Respektive< ist eine neue, linke Schriftenreihe, die einmal jährlich
erscheint. >Respektive< setzt sich mit Themen aus Gesellschaft, Kunst,
Politik und Alltag auseinander, in denen sich Ästhetik und Theorie
produktiv ergänzen und durchdringen. Dabei bietet >Respektive< Raum für
gedankliche und argumentative Experimente mit dem Ziel einer Überwindung
der bürgerlich-kapitalistischen Gesellschaft in Zeiten, in denen die
Praxis einer solchen Überwindung weitgehend fehlt. Mehr dazu unter

Die zweite Ausgabe untersucht das Verhältnis von Gewalt, Angst und
Politik. Zwei Momente scheinen dieses Verhältnis gegenwärtig zu
bestimmen: Einerseits ist das Thema >Gewalt< in der Öffentlichkeit
omnipräsent; Medien steigern durch Berichte über Mord und Totschlag ihre
Auflagen und Einschaltquoten, Politiker_innen gehen mit möglichst
einfachen Rezepten zur Bekämpfung von Gewalt auf Stimmenfang, allerlei
Fachleute erstellen immer wieder neue Statistiken oder schreiben
Bestseller über das Phänomen, seine angeblichen Ursachen und was dagegen
zu tun sei. Andererseits ist in dieser öffentlichen Debatte
strukturelle, systemische Gewalt kein Thema. Indem Gewalt wenig
differenziert als schlecht und verwerflich moralisiert und jegliche
Formen des Widerstands gegen die bestehende Ordnung dämonisiert werden,
festigt sich die Macht des Bestehenden. In der zweiten Ausgabe von
Respektive geht es stattdessen darum, den herrschenden Gewaltdiskurs
kritisch auf seine systemerhaltende Funktion hin zu untersuchten,
Phänomene struktureller Gewalt sichtbar zu machen und jenseits der
gegenwärtigen Debatte Gewalt als Möglichkeit zu denken, die Macht des
Faktischen zum Wanken zu bringen. Mehr zum Thema der zweiten Ausgabe

Aspekte und Themenfelder, die uns in diesem Zusammenhang interessant
scheinen:

Kritik am herrschenden Diskurs der Gewalt, dessen Funktion und Wirkung:
a. Gesundheitsdiskurs als Normierung: Körperbilder; Verhältnis von
gesunder Ernährung, Fitness, Feel-Good-Ideologie, Lifestyle und
Kapitalismus; Rauchverbot; Abwertung von Rauchern, Dicken und
Kranken
b. Flexibilisierung der Arbeitsverhältnisse: Lebenslanges Lernen,
Forderung nach Anpassungsfähigkeit, Soft Skills, Verschärfter
Zugriff
auf die Lohnabhängigen
c. Killergames und Gewaltfilme
d. Amoklauf, Hooliganismus und Rassismus, Jugendgewalt und Verrohung
Sichtbarmachen struktureller und systemischer Gewalt:
a. Innere Sicherheit, Überwachung, Gewaltforschung
b. Stadtentwicklung, Gentrification, Ghettoisierung
c. Gewaltförmigkeit des Konsums
d. Rassismus und Migrationspolitik
e. Verschärfung der sozialen Unsicherheit und Angst, Lohnarbeit als
Zwangsverhältnis

Bruchstellen im Bestehenden, Selbstermächtigungsstrategien, Gewinnung
eines positiven Gewaltbegriffs:
a. Politik als Dissens, Momente des Dissens
b. Strategien im Alltag gegen Angst und strukturelle Gewalt
c. Möglichkeit der Psychoanalyse als Selbstermächtigung
d. Widerstands- und Ermächtigungsstrategien von Gruppen, Organisationen
und anderen Zusammenhängen
e. Politische Gewalt und Machtfrage

Wir freuen uns über ein Abstract deines Beitrages im Umfang von maximal
einer DIN A4 Seite mit einigen Angaben zur Person und bisherigen
Aktivitäten. Es sind nicht nur unterschiedliche Textformate wie Essay,
Bericht, Interview, Gedichte oder Erzählung erwünscht sondern auch
Bildbeiträge wie Fotografie, Zeichnung, Illustration oder Comics sowie
künstlerische Arbeiten - grundsätzlich alles, was abgedruckt werden
kann. Sende uns dein Abstract bis zum 08.10.2010 an postrespektive.ch.

Call for Papers for the second issue (winter 2010 /11)

>Respektive< is a new left-wing series published once a year.
>Respektive< goes into topics from society, art, politics and daily
life, in which aesthetics and theory merge and complement each other.
>Respektive< is a platform for intellectual and argumentative
experiments aiming to the overcoming of the capitalist society in times
when the practice of such an overcoming is mostly missing. More

The second issue examines the relationship between violence, fear and
politics. At present, two aspects seem to determine this relationship:
On the one hand, the subject >violence< is omnipresent in the public at
large; the media increase their editions and ratings by reporting on
murder and manslaughter, politicians go vote catching with simple
remedies for fighting violence, all kinds of experts continually conduct
new surveys or write bestsellers on the phenomenon, its supposed causes
and what should be done against it. On the other hand, structural
systemic violence is no topic in this public debate. By moralizing
violence as bad and reprehensible and by demonizing all forms of
resistance against the existing order without differentiation, the power
of the existing is strengthened. In the second issue of >Respektive<,
the idea is to investigate critically the ruling discourse on violence
in view of its system-maintaining function, to reveal the phenomena of
structural violence and, beyond the present debate, to think of violence
as a possibility to shake the power of the factual.

Aspects and subject fields we think of interest in this context:

Criticising the prevailing discourse on violence, its function and
effect:
a. Health discourse as standardization: Body images; relationship of
healthy nutrition, fitness, feel-good ideology, lifestyle and
capitalism; ban on smoking; depreciation of smokers,
people with weight problems and diseases
b. Flexibility of working conditions: lifelong learning, demand for
flexibility, soft skills and tightened access on wage earners
c. Killer games und action films
d. Rampage, hooliganism and racism, juvenile violence and brutalization

Visualisation of structural and systemic violence.
a. Inner security, surveillance, research on violence
b. Urban development, gentrification, "ghettoisation"
c. Consumer capitalism (pressure to consume)
d. Racism and migration policy
e. Tightening (intensification) of social insecurity and fear, wage
labour as forced relation

Cracks in the existing, strategies for empowerment, developing a
positive concept of violence.
a. Politics as dissent, aspects of dissent
b. Strategies against fear and structural violence in daily life
c. Strategies for resistance and empowerment of groups, organisations
and other associations
d. Political violence and question of power

We are looking forward to an abstract of your article (maximum length: 1
DIN A4 page), together with some personal data and information about
previous activities. Not only various text formats such as essays,
accounts, interviews, poems or stories are welcome but also image
contributions such as photographs, drawings, illustrations or comics as
well as other artistic works - basically all that can be printed. Send
