Hans von Aachen (Prague, 22-25 Sep 10)

"Hans von Aachen und neue Forschungen zum Transfer der künstlerischen
Ideen nach Mitteleuropa", an international symposium organized by the
Institute of Art History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic,
will be held in Prague on 22–25 September 2010. The symposium will
take place on the occasion of the international exhibition "Hans von
Aachen (1552–1615): Hofkünstler in Europa", a collaboration of the
Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum Aachen, the Prague Castle Picture Gallery,
and the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, which will survey the whole
range of this artist's work for the first time. Objective of the
symposium is to explore the cultural transfer in the work of Hans
von Aachen and to illuminate the cosmopolitan milieu of the artists
at the courts in Italy and Central Europe. In this context other
artists active in Prague will also be discussed.

Lectures will be 20 minutes in length (plus 10 minutes discussion).
Also welcome are brief presentations (5–10 minutes plus 5 minutes
discussion) on new findings and interpretations (5–10 minutes plus
5 minutes discussion).

A proposal of 400 words at maximum, plus a short resumé, should be
