On Friday 3 April 2009 Afterall and TrAIN will present 'Exhibitions
and the World at Large', a public symposium at Tate Britain, London,
examining the contemporary art exhibition in a global context. The
symposium will consider three case studies from 1989, a pivotal year
for both art and politics: 'Magiciens de la Terre' at the Centre
Pompidou in Paris, 'The Other Story' at the Hayward Gallery, London,
and the third Bienal de La Habana. The event will open with a keynote
presentation by Sarat Maharaj and other speakers will include Thomas
Boutoux, Jean Fisher, Cuauhtémoc Medina and Gerardo Mosquera.
