Institution/Project

The Österreichische Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftsmuseum in
Vienna/Austria, the follower institution of the museum which Otto
Neurath founded and directed in the ‚Red Vienna’, is preparing a
research project with an interdisciplinary and international scope
(evidence of, description, evaluation of the diverse
communication-settings of Neurath’s historical museum- and exhibition
work; digitization and publication in a user-oriented Internet portal).

Position

Graduate scientist position in research team; with specialisation
museology, museum history and science communication (20 hrs/week);

Project term: start autumn 2009, duration 36 months;

Position to be filled from autumn 2009; expected duration 36 months;
venue: Vienna/Austria;

Payment according to scheme of the FWF (www.fwf.ac.at/).

Responsibilities

Candidates will carry out their primary research work independently
within the scope of the research team’s interest (research and
interpretation of materials in museums, archives, libraries). Take part
in the coordination of the discussion and evaluation of strategies; take
part in seminars and expert meetings (preparation, documentation and
securing of results). Participate in building up the museological and
interdisciplinary project-infra structure;

Requirements

Graduates with a degree in history or museology and/or a strong
background in these fields as well as in the interdisciplinary field of
science communication; experience and interest in science-organisation;
positive approach to assisting in organizational and office work;
team-competencies, ICT- and very good communication skills (EN, GE)
