The Department of Archaeology and History of Art, Bilkent University,
seeks a specialist in Seljuk and Ottoman art and architecture.
Rank open. Ph.D. required. Start date September 1, 2008.
The position is full-time and renewable. Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience. The department offers BA and MA programs
that focus on ancient and medieval Turkey, the Mediterranean basin, and
the Near East. English is the language of instruction. The teaching load
is normally 3 courses per semester. The candidate hired will be expected
to teach, supervise research, and conduct research in Islamic art and
architectural history with a specialization in Seljuk and Ottoman art
and architecture. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with
Byzantine art and architecture; museology; art historical methods &
theory; and introductory-level art & architectural history, in order to
share in the teaching of those subjects.
