Get-Together and Graduate Student Get-Together

Junior Faculty and Graduate Students:

Please note the following additions to the GSA
activities this year.

Dear Junior Faculty in German Studies-related Fields,

With the encouragement of the GSA leadership, a
group of junior faculty will be gathering for an
informal meeting at the GSA annual conference in San
Diego.

Friday, October 5, 2007 from 10PM to 11PM (immediately
following the banquet) at the Trellises Poolside
(outside), Town and Country Resort. In case of rain,
we will meet at Charlie's Bar and Grill.

This get-together has been organized in the context
of the GSA's ongoing efforts to better meet the needs
of junior faculty who are members or potential
members. We hope that you will come to this gathering
with ideas
and enthusiasm.

If you have a scheduling conflict, but would like to
contribute suggestions, please contact me
<jhosekqueensu.ca> or one of the other junior faculty
members who will be helping to facilitate the meeting.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Jennifer Hosek (German Studies - Queen's University,
Ontario)

Will Gray (History - Purdue - <wggraypurdue.edu>)

Katja Guenther (Sociology - Cal State, Fullerton -

Dear graduate students studying Germany,

With the encouragement of the GSA leadership, we
would like to invite you to participate in the
founding meeting of the Graduate Students Caucus at
the GSA 31st Annual Conference in San Diego, October
4-7, 2007.

The meeting will take place on Friday, October
5, from 10 PM to 11 PM (immediately following the
GSA Annual Banquet) at the Lion Fountain. In case of
rain, we will meet at the Terrace Cafe.

The purpose of our get-together will be to give
opportunity to students from various fields (such
as Germanic Studies, History, Anthropology, Social
studies, Architecture, Art history, and others) to
discuss ideas how the GSA can meet our needs and
how can we contribute more effectively to the
Association.

We hope that you will come and make your voice
heard, bring your ideas and enthusiasm!

If you would like to contribute suggestions earlier,
please send them to any of us, i.e. the
participants in the Graduate Student Committee:
