Museum Career Internship
Part-time: 21 hours per week Honorarium: $12,000
September 17, 2007 - May 18, 2008

This internship is awarded to a graduate student from one of New Jersey's
state universities. The applicant must have a demonstrated interest in
pursuing a career in museum work and be enrolled in an art history,
history, art education, or American studies M.A. program, a master's level
museum studies or non-profit management program; or a Master of Fine Art
program. The internship cycles through the curatorial department,
development department and the education department with significant time
in each to gain job skills and address career goals.
The Jersey City Museum's Permanent Collection is unique in that it
includes both contemporary American visual art, and historical and
industrial objects of significance to the region. In addition to
exhibitions, the museum presents and produces events including concerts,
film series, family programs and interpretive programs.
A complete application includes:· A letter of interest including a
description of your career goals and your current academic work, as well
as a description of your interest in the internship at Jersey City Museum·
A writing sample (no more than 5 pages)· Your resume with detailed
education information· Two references
