In dem von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft geförderten
Graduiertenkolleg 619 werden für die dritte
Bewilligungsphase zum 15. November 2006

ein weiteres Promotionsstipendium
(1.000 EUR plus Sachkostenbeihilfe in Höhe von 103 EUR)
ausgeschrieben.

Das Kolleg wird von den Fächern Baltistik, Philosophie, Psychologie,
Skandinavistische und Germanistische Sprachwissenschaft, Slawistische
Literaturwissenschaft sowie Kunstgeschichte, Geschichts-, Musik-,
Politik- und Rechtswissenschaften getragen. Seine thematischen
Schwerpunkte sind ethnische, staatliche und kulturelle Identitäten im
Ostseeraums, Prozesse der Fremd- und Selbstwahrnehmung sowie politische,
wirtschaftliche, rechtliche und kulturelle Bedingungen der Integration in
historischer und zeitgenössischer Perspektive.

Die Laufzeit der Stipendien beträgt zunächst zwei Jahre (mit der
Möglichkeit der Verlängerung). Es wird erwartet, daß die Stipendiatinnen
und Stipendiaten während der Förderzeit ihren Wohnsitz in Greifswald
nehmen; sie sollten in der Regel nicht älter als 28 Jahre sein.
Bewerbungen um Aufnahme in das Graduiertenkolleg (mit Lebenslauf,
Zeugniskopien, ggf. Abschlußarbeit bzw. Publikationen, Gutachten eines
Hochschullehrers und einer Projektskizze) werden erbeten bis zum

Fellowships

The Ernst Moritz Arndt University Greifswald continues the graduate
programme 619 "Contact Area Mare Balticum: Foreignness and Integration
in the Baltic Region" (sponsored by the German Research Foundation). Its
goal is to enhance students' enthusiasm for the issue of foreignness and
integration in the Baltic region, while training them in the skills
required for a productive research career. The programme is designed for
Ph.D. students in Philosophy, Political Sciences, Psychology,
Scandinavian and
Germanic Languages, Slavic Literatures, Baltic Languages and
Literatures, Art History, History and Law, and examines foreignness as
an intellectual, cultural and social phenomenon. Key questions are:
foreignness in (Baltic) thought, and factors of integration, perception
of foreigners/foreignness and cultural
transformation in historical perspective.

The graduate programme will award 1 Ph.D. fellowships. Fellows receive
financial support in the form of scholarships of EUR 1,000/month. In
addition, every fellow will receive EUR 103/month for books and other
study materials. Fellowships are for two years in the first instance and
they can be extended.
