Legacies of Modernism

'Legacies of Modernism,' a one day international colloquium on the
after-life of modernism from an art theoretical, art historical and
philosophical point of view, will be held at Trinity College Oxford on
Friday 9 June from 10am-6pm, followed by a reception. The colloquium is
convened by Katerina Reed-Tsocha, Oxford) and Diarmuid Costello (Oxford
Brookes) . The speakers are:

Thierry de Duve (Lille)
'The Post-Duchamp Deal: Remarks on a Few Specifications of the Word 'Art'

Peter Osborne (Middlesex)
'Modernisms and Mediations: Specifc, Generic and Distributional'

Stephen Melville (Ohio State)
'A Thing of the Past'

Richard Shiff (Texas)
'Mutual Interference'

PLEASE NOTE: ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, AND PLACES WILL BE LIMITED.
The cost is £15 for faculty, £10 for graduate students. The deadline for
receipt of registration form and payment is Wed 31 May, and places will be
allocated on a 'first-come, first served' basis. Cheques should be made
payable to ?Oxford University¹ and sent to Dr K. Reed-Tsocha, Trinity
