(x-post: CAAH)
Dear art historians:
The following message will soon appear on our website, but I thought I would
give a heads-up to those who may be planning research leaves in Rome for
next year.
AAR LIBRARY TO BE CLOSED 2006/07
The Library of the American Academy in Rome will be closed for renovation
from July 29, 2006 to September 10, 2007. The Library staff will relocate to
another part of the Academy and will devote their efforts to helping
Fellows, Residents and Visiting Artists and Scholars to meet their research
needs through other libraries or online sources.
As most of the collection will be unavailable and reading space will be
severely limited, we ask nonresident readers to use other libraries first
before contacting us. No regular reader's cards will be issued in 2006/07.
Only rare books and older periodicals will be available (by appointment
only).
For specific information during the Library closure, write to
libraryaarome.org. The Photographic Archive will be open as usual
(photoarchiveaarome.org).
Please pass the word. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The
result will be a wonderful new library with more space for books and
readers!
