University of California, Davis, Program in Art History;
commencing July 1, 2005

The Program in Art History at the University of California, Davis, invites
applications for a new faculty position in any aspect of art history /
visual culture outside Europe and the Western tradition. Possible subject
areas include: African Art / Asian Art (excluding China) / Art of the
Indigenous Peoples of the Americas / Islamic Art / Pacific Islander Art /
multi-regional topics. Preference will be given to a scholar working with
pre-1900 material. Rank is open, appointment as Associate or Full
Professor with tenure possible for qualified candidate. We seek a dynamic
researcher whose scholarship will thrive as part of the arts, humanities,
cultural studies and social sciences at the University of California,
Davis. Standard teaching load is four undergraduate and graduate level
courses per year on the quarter system. Ph.D. and teaching experience
required; publications record preferred. Appointment commences July 1, 2005.

writing sample, and the names of three referees (including their
