Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to ask if anyone out there could help me find information
on American, English or German accounts of travels in Portugal, where
you may find descriptions of the country's cities, houses, palaces,
gardens, interiors, tiles, frescoes, painting, sculpture, etc. I am
looking into the 18th and 19th cent. art and architecture of either
continental Portugal or the Portuguese islands of the Azores, Madeira. I
am also looking for information on writings by an American of surname
Smith who wrote literature on Portuguese art.
This is for research towards a Ph.D.
